As a matter of fact, all of our Kindergarten teachers are for- mer Pioneer graduates! Mrs. Mangus graduated from Purdue University in Elementary Edu- cation and began her teaching career with All Saints School, where she taught Kindergarten and 1 st grade. She came to Pio- neer at the retirement of her 5th grade teacher, Mr. Welch and taught 5th grade for two years before moving to Kindergarten. Mrs. Mangus has taught at Pio- neer for 12 years. Her philoso- phy of education is for her classes to leave her knowing how special they are, have a fun year, and leam all they can. Her most memorable experience at Pioneer was coming to teach for one of her former teachers, and when cleaning out his files found things that she had done in 5th grade. Mrs. Mangus and her husband Jeffhave two children, Drew, 5, and Mia, 5. Her favorite pastime is spending time with her kids. She also enjoys bike riding and watching sporting events. Thank you Mrs. Mangus for your patience with our Kindergarten children! Coach McWherter from the varsity girls basketball team se- lected soph- omore Monica Compton as this week's Athlete of the Week. Monica is the daughter of Kris Mal- chow and Rich Comp- ton. She plays for- ward for the Panthers and also com- petes in vol- leyball and track and is a cheer- leader. Her favorite memory of athletics at Pioneer was when the volleyball team turned the furniture upside down at coach Nies home. Monica names Susan VonTobel as her role model. She plans to become a nude practitioner in her future. Monica is a member of Sunshine and the Trebeche Club and for fun, she enj oys "Girl"s Night Out"! Congratulations Monica! Royal Center +
