GLItPSES 'N GLEAninGS BI GEORGE "SEEING & BELIEVING" seen a neighbor or someone around You have sure'y heard the old saying. "You can't believe any- thing you hear and only bail of what you see". The seeing that is done may make a difference in what is believed. An interesting case in point is the seeing and be- lieving what we read about in the Gospel of John. chapter 20, verse 24 and following. Thomas was not in company with the other discip- les when Jesus appeared among them. When he was later told of Jesus' appearing he was quite like most of us would he. and said. "'Un- less ! e in his hands the print of the hal's, and place my finger in the mark of the nails, and place my hand in his side. 1 will not believe." He required a tot of proof, did he not? Surely he thought that it the corner or up the state born a- gain so we doubt his Christian ex- >erience. Maybe our own doubts are like Thomas because we have- n't had as great revelation of the reseaee of the Lord. We haven't "seen" him and when another wit- nesses to his or her experience our response is, "'Yea, sure, so what other fairy stories do you know'" or something akin to that. Well notice what happened to Thomas. ,Eight days later when the disciples were together again and Thomas was with them Jesus again came and stood among them. He then spoke to Thomas and said. "Put your finger here, and see my hands ........ do not <be faithless, but believing." John doesn't record anything about Thomas touching him but he does record how Them- ten do we miss seeing because we have not PUT7 Put forth the effort -- by wait- ing on God or being present at the time and place of prayer.
